This first half of the Boston Red Sox 2012 season could be summed up using a variety of adjectives, but at the very least, this season has been uniquely frustrating. There have been plenty of highlights this season, but just as many, if not more, lowlights. We endured a lot of change in the off-season and some more during the regular season. There has been seemingly injury after injury resulting in, to my estimation, 22 DL stints and a whopping 44 different players getting playing time.
Among the many negatives of the first half of the season: the Red Sox are 4th in the AL East, trail 5 teams in the Wild Card race, have the third worst starting pitching ERA in the AL, have blown 11 saves (tied for 4th worst in the AL) and depending on the outcome of tonight’s game, they could be entering the Break a .500 team and 9.5 games out of first. As poorly as many things have gone, the team will be, at worst, only 3 games out of a playoff spot.
I asked 5 of our Bloodysox.com contributors to answer 5 simple questions about the first half of the season, and what to expect in the second half. So, I present to you the first ever Bloody Sox Round Table Discussion. Hope you enjoy!
