The Red Sox have acquired left handed relief pitcher Craig Breslow. The Red Sox are sending Matt Albers and Scott Podsednik to the Arizona Diamondbacks in return.

Breslow was previously a member of the Red Sox organization in 2006 and 2007. He pitched 12 innings for the big league club in 2006 but did not pitch in Boston in 2007. He was called up in September when rosters were expanded. He did not pitch once in the majors that year, but he still won a ring as a member of the Sox that year!

Breslow has a career 3.02 ERA. He is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA through 43.1 innings in 2012. It certainly doesn’t hurt to add another left handed specialist to the bullpen.

  2. Seems to me this was a move to make some room in the salary cap! Than Breslow having any impact for than Albers???
